Celebrating 10 Years at This Space with Emma Perry

Reaching a 10-year milestone is a remarkable achievement in any career, and for Styling Director Emma Perry, the past decade at This Space has been defined by creativity, growth and a passion for bringing extraordinary experiences to life. From transforming unconventional venues into immersive event spaces to helping shape the systems, processes and culture that support the business today, Emma has played an integral role in the company’s evolution.

We sat down with Emma to reflect on the lessons she’s learnt, the projects that have left a lasting impression, and what excites her most about the future of events. Her story is one of continuous learning, creative exploration and a deep appreciation for the talented team around her.

"I've learnt how much I love working on such a diverse range of events and just how different every event can be. No two projects are ever the same, and that's what keeps it exciting."

Emma also reflects on the personal growth she’s experienced during her time at This Space. Balancing a busy creative leadership role with motherhood has taught her resilience, adaptability and the importance of perspective.

When asked about her favourite project from the past decade, one particular event series immediately comes to mind. Delivered for a corporate client several years ago, the project saw This Space transform a range of unconventional venues into intimate dining experiences. The concept centred around a single long table, bringing together a small group of guests for a highly immersive experience.

"What I loved most was working in completely non-traditional venues. We transformed spaces like a cave beneath the Opera House into a beautiful dining environment. We had to create a completely different experience every time, despite having the same audience. It really pushed us creatively and made us think beyond traditional event design, which I absolutely loved."

Looking towards the future, Emma is excited by the opportunities emerging technologies will bring to the events industry. She sees artificial intelligence as a powerful tool that can enhance creativity and help deliver even more impactful experiences.

"I want to explore how we can work with AI in a positive way to bring events to a whole new level."

She is also eager to continue learning from the team around her, particularly as audiovisual technology becomes an increasingly integral part of event experiences.

"AV is growing so quickly, and I'm excited to keep learning and finding ways to enhance my work through that medium."

While Emma hopes to become more involved in the project management side of the business over the coming years, she remains deeply connected to the creative passions that first drew her into the industry.

"I've always loved textiles and materiality, and I want to continue exploring new products and materials in our work. I'm also passionate about creating adaptable inventory pieces that can serve multiple purposes and support our sustainability goals."

Above all, Emma is grateful for the people she’s shared the journey with.

"I feel incredibly lucky to work with such a talented team. My goal for the next 10 years is simple: to keep learning, creating and growing with the dream team."

Congratulations Emma for a decade with This Space!
